On 28th November 2023, Dr. Christopher Moran hosted a Reception & Dinner together with the National Portrait Gallery at Crosby Moran Hall, on the subject of “William Dobson: Serjeant-Painter to King Charles I”. The Keynote Speakers were Catharine MacLeod, 17th Century Curator, National Portrait Gallery and Tabitha Barber, Curator of English Art, Tate Britain.

On the evening, guests had the opportunity to view five pictures by William Dobson in the Crosby Moran Hall collection, including William Dobson’s portrait of Charles I. Continue reading

In 1988, Crosby Hall was purchased out of public ownership by Dr. Christopher Moran, who embarked on a project to put Crosby Hall back into its historical context in terms of architecture.
